In reference to paragraph 4, Colonial Office des-
patch No. 75 of 1895,I have the honour to report as follows :-
The water works in hand at the time of the passing
of the Water Works Ordinance in 1890 were the following,
and the expenditure incurred on them is placed opposite

The Water Account therefore at the commencement of
1891/with a debit balance or $130,292.77 as reported in my
letier No 545 of 3rd June 1993.
Copies of Accounts for the years 1891, 1892, 1895,
and 1894 are attached.
At present the expenditure on water works since
the passing of the Ordinance is in excess of the receipts
to credit of water account, so that for the present no ex-
penditure
